I’m a photographer based in Magherafelt, County Derry, who specialises in photographing landscapes, architecture and human beings; I also have a mild obsession with sharing my beautiful part of the world with people from around the world.
I grew up in Bellaghy, near Magherafelt: a small town with a long and sometimes turbulent history, but set in a part of Ireland that’s one part picture postcard and one part inspiration for literary genius Seamus Heaney. Living here I was lucky enough to find inspiration in the fields and lanes and to discover the great beauty on my doorstep. I received my first ever camera as a boy and this would alter the path of my life in more ways than I could ever imagine.
After studying Architecture and Town Planning at Queen’s University Belfast, I worked for just one year in the construction sector, before branching out into community work and the arts. A good many years and too many career dead-ends later, I found myself indulging my passion for the art of photography and my local landscape to take my life in a new direction. I now combine my love of photography with leading my small private tour company InSite Tours Ireland.
